Red Felt Rose
So I've been on a felt flower making spree! Do you like? These candles are on my dining table as a center piece and I thought I would prop them with my necklace and a RED felt rose I made today! Felt is my new "Go To" textile! :)
MilSpouse Friday Fill In #29
It's MilSpouse Friday Fill In! Yay! Thank you Wife of a Sailor for hosting this fun fill in!
- Since most of the country has had nasty weather, what has your weather been like this week? You said it! Nasty. We still have almost a foot of snow covered in a half inch of ice! It's cloudy today and may snow more tonight. Boy, I miss living at Camp Pendleton in sunny Orange County, CA!
- What is/are your best money saving tip(s)? I like to Online window shop, coupon clip, also find my favorite blogging sites that hosts amazing money saving deals. For my crafts I never pay full price for anything. Wait, that's not just crafts, that's everything! I just got in my email a 50% off one Regular Priced Item at Joann Fabrics. Looks like I'm going there today!
- What was your favorite vehicle you’ve ever owned? My still owned Scion XB. It's so cute. It's black but when in the sun looks like it has silver glitter specks. It has black leather interior and an Ipod hook up. Now that I have DS hubby drives the Scion and I drive around our Nissan Pathfinder. Which I love as well! Don't ask about my first car! That's on a need to know basis. :)
- What is a question you’d like to see asked in a future fill-in? Do you like being called "Mrs. _____" or "Ma'am" even though you are not even 20? Haha. I am well in my 20's now, but I remember when we first got married and I was 19 and my hubby's subordinates would call me that to try to be proper and it made me feel old. Now though, I like it, and find respect that the military has taught our service members.
- Fill in the blank: You might be a MilSpouse if…. you have three jobs on your resume for the past two years :)
The Need for....Cetaphil Review (Beauty Friday)
When I was in middle school and high school I battled with skin problems. Mainly acne. My mom tried helping me find the perfect product but nothing seemed to work. I even tried Pro-Active but that seemed to make me break out more. The summer before my senior year of high school I went to a dermatologist who gave me two acne medications (morning and night) but also told me about Cetaphil face cleanser and moisturizer.
I tried it and liked it. Since I was a high school girl I thought there would be other neat products that are more "popular" at the mall so I would try them. I think I would mess up my skin more by switching products.
About two years ago I finally decided to go back to Cetaphil products and use them consistently. I did and haven't looked back since. The facial cleanser is suitable for ALL skin types and is so gentle and soft on the skin. The Daily Facial Moisturizer is "Lightweight and Non-greasy", which is absolutely true. I also love the fact that it's SPF 15. Depending on the store the products can retail from $5 to $10 each depending on the size that you choose.
My skin looks great and I only rarely break out. I don't even use a medication on my skin anymore. Cetaphil is my main skin care products. I should have really listened to my Dermatologist back in the day and stuck with his advice!
I am not the only one in the home who uses this brand. My husband uses the same Facial Cleanser and Daily Facial Moisturizer as I do and we use the Gentle Skin Cleanser on our son for bath time.
You can find Cetaphil at almost ANY drug stores, grocery stores, and department stores like Target and Walmart.
Cetaphil's Facebook is offering a $1.00 off Printable coupon. Go "Like" their page and print one!

"I Did It!"
As many of you know having a toddler can by energy draining but yet the most wonderful thing in the world. They are learning all about you, themselves, and the world around them. They are so absorbent to what they hear and see.
This morning DS went to go sit in a 'big boy' chair (chair without booster seat). As he climbed over, body still hanging off both sides, he says, "I did it!" I think this is the longest phrase he has said that I can recognize so far!

I am so proud of him and his accomplishments and for the many more milestones to come. I quite possibly could have missed this phrase if I wasn't a stay at home mommy. I love that right now I can stay at home with him. I know there may be a time when I have to go back to work (like if and when hubby gets out of the service) but for the months to come I am enjoying every bit of staying home with the Bman!
Tata!

Homemade Tortillas Anyone!?
So when you are a military family (like us) you get to meet the best people from traveling. Our neighbor, and friend, has her Grandmother visiting for a while. Grandma is such an amazing woman and takes the stroll outside to come visit me and DS during the day. She comes by almost every day. So far she has given me a crochet needle and yarn to practice on BUT this evening she taught me how to make tortillas!
To learn to make tortillas is a skill. You have to make sure you have just the right amount of everything, including the warm water.
Nothing was really measured, but why should it be when the recipe is in your head! So I am going to share what I THINK may be the measurements for my approximately TWO dozen tortillas we made tonight!
Ingredients:
2 Cups Flour
2 Teaspoons baking soda
1 Teaspoon Salt
1/2 Cup Shortening
1 1/2 Cups warm Water
YIELDS: Approx 2 doz
In a LARGE bow, using your HANDS, mix together dry ingredients. Than add in Shortening. Mix with your HANDS. Then in intervals add warm water. Mix dough well with your HANDS.
Knead dough about 20 times
Roll into balls with your hands (like the size of a ice cream scooper) Use shortening to coat your hands when rolling the balls, prevents sticking
Prepare skillet (I used my cast iron skillet) heat up on about 7 (stove top temp)
Roll balls of dough into flour. Use rolling pin to roll out into thin circle. Then use hands to help stretch the dough a little more (Sorry I don't have pics for this)
Place dough onto UNGREASED hot skillet. Cook for about 15 seconds each side, flipping about twice each side
ENJOY!
