My Little Sicky

Hubby and I have been so tired these past few days because of our little sicky. As you may have seen from a previous post our 23 month old came down with croup and sent us the the ER because we had never been through this.

We have had restless nights as our little boy keeps waking himself up by coughing so hard, poor guy. I feel so bad for him. We even have extra blankets under him for elevation, Vicks rubbed ALL over, and his humidifier, and we even cracked the window like the doctor said to get cool air in.

He hasn't ran a fever in a day an a half now which is great. He would wake up drenched it sweat and so tired and uncomfortable.

His naps these past few days have been less than one hour, which is not normal for him BUT finally today he slept for TWO and a half hours! I think we are on the upward path to recovery finally.

I took him outside today to play. I got him running around and jumping and the poor little guy kept coughing so hard from my "workouts"! I didn't think we were playing that hard but once we got inside he couldn't stop coughing and he was puking up his snack. YUCK! Sorry about that information.

The only reason we came inside is because someone's dog got loose (AGAIN) and raced up to the little guy and I barking and showing his teeth. I was scared so I swept Bman up in my arms and we ran inside. I called base security AGAIN, this is the third time! Come on people, you need to figure out how to keep your animal where it belongs! I understand once or twice but three times (that I've noticed) and this time he charges at us in our own yard! Not cool!

Flashback Friday

I saw this fun linky over at More Than Words and thought "What a neat idea!" Link up and join in the fun!

This picture was taken at the airport the day he left to go to Camp Pendleton (From Oregon) to go on his tour in Iraq. Since it was East Sunday all of our families AND extended families rented a banquet room and shared a nice brunch at a hotel in Portland and then we sent him off. What a mixed emotional day for me! (I believe the "bunny" ears are from his youngest sister!)
I

OOOHHH What a long night...

It all started yesterday morning when DS woke up coughing. The cough was very deep and it sounded like he was loosing his voice. I watched him, like I normally do, to make sure everything is okay. We went to our friends and he played hard. Towards the end of our afternoon at our friends house he started breathing heavier and then wheezing. It kind of scared me but I was like I will just Vick's him up and put his humidifier on in his room at bed time and hopefully that will make him feel better.

Hi wheezing while just sitting was heavy before he went to bed. When hubby and I finally went to bed around 11pm hubby noticed DS was coughing hard and wheezing again. I went in there and he was very short of breath and it FREAKED me out. Obviously, it didn't sound right.

Hubby and I decided we needed to take our little boy to the hospital. I've done ER trip before with our little man but my hubby hadn't. He was such a concerned Daddy and wanted to make sure that DS would be taken care of. The whole car ride there our little boy's breathing go heavier and heavier.

We finally arrived at the ER, got admitted, and seen right away which is absolutely AMAZING. The ER Doctor was FABULOUS with the little man and so were all the nurses! It turns out my baby has croup. :( No good! They put him on a breathing machine first to inhale fumes that clear his wheezing up, then he got a shot (ick), and then the X-Rays to check out the lungs, chest, and neck. DS HATED with all his might the X-Rays. He fought us all tooth and nails. It was awful to see and I felt so bad for him. Daddy had to sit in the waiting room anxiously because only one parent was allowed in the X-Ray.

Good thing is that the little man has NO signs of pneumonia.

DS will feel awful for the next 24 hours and then his shot of medicine should start kicking the croups behind!

OH! A note to every parent from the ER Doctor. The BEST thing to help get rid of a child's croup is to let them play outside (not bundled up) for a little while in the cold. Inhaling the cool air is very good and a natural healer! :)

PROOF of ER visit. I had to wear the bracelet because our little man threw a HUGE fit when we got there!
