CLOSED!!Thirsties Cloth Diapers- Review & Giveaway

As many of my 'regular' readers know most of my cloth diapers consist of the Thirsties Duo Diaper. I absolutely LOVE Thirsties for multiple reasons BUT my numero UNO reason is that they are a USA made product! Wohoo. Thirties employ WAHM's to help with the manufacturing of their products. Isn't this the most wonderful thing!

Thirsties, Inc. has ever so generously sent a Thirsties Duo Wrap (size two for my 28lb 24 month old) and Prefold to review.

When I received the products they came so ADORABLY wrapped in blue silk ribbon and included in the package was pamphlets on how to care for the products as well as a Thirsties product catalog. I received the Cool Stripes Duo Wrap in Aplix.

Top Five LOVES about the Duo Wrap:
1. APLIX: I love the fact that I can adjust accordingly to literally get the "perfect" fit around my son's abdomen. Aplix allows for even the tinniest adjustment which can make a world of difference when it comes to a leak proof system.
2. Leg gussets: Thirsties designed an AMAZING leak proof system by having the sewn in gussets in the wrap which makes for the messiest explosions (which we did encounter, my son is famous for them) leak proof.
3. Pul: What a great waterproof/leak proof concept. It's still breathable just enough to ease away my worries of getting or staying too moist. The pul material helps from getting DS's clothes wet.
4. Sizing snaps: The two levels of adjustment snaps really help with the leak proof protection in the leg area. I usually put the snaps on the first row to get the extra snug fit for night time.
5. Print/Color: Thirsties has adorable colors and patterns to choose from and I was very happy when I was able to pick the color which was Cool Stripes
**The only thing I find that I have a hard time with are the Laundry Tabs. My tabs never stay put in the wash so sometimes I get the chain gang going on but that will not stop me from loving my Thirsties!

Top Five LOVES about the Duo Hemp Prefold
1. Soft: Again, the first thing I noticed about the Thirsties Duo Hemp Prefold was that I was amazed with how soft the fabric was AND it remained that way after washes.
2. HEMP: It's made of natural products. Enough said. Being that it's made from hemp it also is antimicrobial. Cool huh?
3. Easy: This prefold folds so easily into the trifold. I've had issues with other prefolds where they become so thick and chunky when it's trifolded that it looks so bulky on my DS. NO need for Snappis or pins!
4. ABSORBENT: Surprisingly because 90% of my cloth diapers are either pockets or AIO's I don't have an extreme use of prefolds. Thirsties prefolds are now my favorite prefolds (and I am not saying this because it's a review).
5. #2 Proof: Not going to say much more, but for my 24 month old, it all stayed on the prefold!
**A bummer about the Duo Hemp Prefold is that it's $7.00 for ONE prefold. I would still recommend to have a couple of these in your stash because they are worth it and they make prefolds and covers SO easy to use.

Okay okay! For the good part. Thirsties has offered one of my followers a chance to win the Duo Wrap in their preferred size and color along with a Duo Hemp Prefold!

Remember in my What I Wore Wednesday post where I said I have gained a new friend through the blogging world well it is so true. Amy at Allenaim Photography is an amazing person, has a beautiful family, and a GORGEOUS home and garden.

Amy has two wonderful blogs! Allenaim Photography and a Nest For All Seasons! Please give her some love and check them both out! If you live in the Central PA area or visiting the Hershey area PLEASE contact her for your photography needs.

I wanted to share more of the pictures she took of me to show how AMAZING she is with the camera. She has a great eye. Some of these shots she was laying on the ground and getting dirty just so she could get the PERFECT capture! She did and hands down these photos are FABULOUS!!

Military Monday and Weekend Recap!

Welcome to my blog! Thank you for hoping by from Military Monday!

Hop on over and link up!
What did I do you may ask this past weekend?

Saturday: What a LONG day. I headed over to Marine Girlfriend's house to help get together all of her tamales and tortillas we would be serving later that evening at a dinner fundraiser event. We packed up all the food as well as her Pampered Chef and Tupperware product catalogs and headed over to the event site. It was such a neat event and we served homemade tamales and tortillas to about 200 attendees! The food was a hit and I know she is going to do well in the catering business. She also even had many people interested in her Pampered Chef and Tupperware items. You go girl! She is such a busy mommy of three and her FOURTH is due ANY day! She IS supermom!
Then, it hit me right before bed, the big, bad, COLD! Yuck, I dislike being sick.
Sunday: Pretty much the WHOLE day I rested. My head cold was worse. I even found myself asleep on the couch in the Bman's room. Thankfully hubby did most of the house chores as I was too exhausted to help much. I think I did manage to clean the guest bathroom, bedroom, and do a couple loads of laundry!

I hope everyone had a lovely weekend. You are ALL so fabulous!

CLOSED...Week 4 BumGenius Bottom Cleaner Review & Giveaway

WINNER IS Sunflower Joy! Congrats!

SHOUT OUT to Go Green Baby Company for sponsoring this week's Giveaway!
Katie at Go Green Baby Company was so excited to be part of my son's 2nd Birthday Celebration. She has a great online website that is so easy to navigate and shop! Katie and her hubby Kenny have a newly turned one year old daughter whom they cloth diaper! They are as green as you can get and try to live as naturally as possible.
I was able to pick an item that I wanted to review and thought I would give the bumGenius Bottom Cleaner a try. We don't use cloth wipes as much as we should and we don't have a wipe solution besides just water and Baby Soap!

I was so excited when I got this in the mail that I had to change DS even though he wasn't wet or messy! The bumGenius Bottom Cleaner is so fresh and natural smelling. I love the orange smell. Word of advice...wet the cloth with warm water before you wipe with the solution. The solution doesn't saturate the bum enough to be a nice gentle swipe on baby! If that makes sense!

Overall, this is a great product! I mostly use it after a messy diaper and would definitely recommend it for a cloth diapering family.

This giveaway ends 3/23/2011!!

Super Saturday

Our Saturday was TRULY super. It was very very VERY busy too!

First we went to the Circus. It wasn't your typical Circus with exotic animals but more of acrobatic acts, clowns, and specialized performers. We stayed for the first hour and a half and left once intermission was over with. Though intermission was actually great because DS got to ride on the ponies! I was very afraid I would loose the $7.00 that I spent on a ticket for him for the pony rides because we haven't been able to get him on a horse in the past. He blew my mind today! He was upset to get off the horse!

We rested for about two hours and then we were on our way to the Monster Truck Show! What an event this was. I received VIP tickets from my work and I was really excited about that. I realized though that even though we got great seating we got all the DIRT! Let me just say that WE came home much more tan! This Monster Truck show was a first timer for the three of us and I am so happy I took my Dad's advice to get ear plugs because it was LOUD. You know deep loud music where you feel it in your chest. This was like that by 10 times! So much fun!

Have fun going through my photo storybook!

CLOSED!!!Week 3 Review & Giveaway! Petunia Pickle Bottom

This week's review and giveaway is somewhat different than others that I have done and will be doing in the future. I had a great time doing this though. I'm doing a review of a Store Front Boutique and YOU have the chance to win a PPB!
(I actually have my own pictures that I took of the store but I'm having camera issues, I will post them as soon as I can transfer the pictures from my camera to the computer)

First off SHOUT OUT to Andrea at Bellies and Bottoms Baby Boutique here in Pennsylvania! Bellies and Bottoms Baby Boutique literally has anything a baby and toddler needs. From tutus with big flowered headbands to sneakers and jeans! ALL of the items are top notch brands at her store. Like Egg Baby clothing to Petunia Pickle Bottom bags and gear! She even carries Sophie the Giraffe teething toy (I wish I knew about these when the Bman was little!).

She has AMAZING customer service and did I mention an ADORABLE baby girl! She just has her store front but DO NOT let that turn you away. With her boutique located in Central Pennsylvania it was a hop, skip, and a jump to get to her store. It only took me 45 minutes driving time. To ALL of my fans if you are ever going to be in Central PA this IS the baby store to go to. She doesn't carry cloth diapers but that does not bother me one bit as she is my Go TO store for Petunia Pickle Bottom now!

With Petunia Pickle Bottom in my head...how about a Petunia Pickle Bottom Giveaway in the Tea in the Thames Print?!!!! Yes, I said that correct. One lucky fan of mine will get to win this BE-U-TI-FUL "diaper" handbag!

Going Green at Home

Did you all get the newest Parenting Magazine? I did and there is some AMAZING ideas in there right now. What is catching my eyes are that more and more of the articles are about "Going Green" and being "Eco Chic". I think this is wonderful.
What do you do to go green and to be eco chic? I know I have so many areas of opportunities for this. My biggest "eco chic" is of course cloth diapering.
My husband and I couldn't be happier with the decision we made to go green by cloth diapering our son. Yes, he was already in his young toddler months when we started, 16 months old, but I always think, it's better late than never. Especially when it comes to saving the planet and our wallet. While at home we also try to use mostly cloth wipes although I find myself doing it more than my husband. Well, let me restate this. I am the ONLY one in the house that uses cloth wipes for my son's rear end!
We have been big fans of green friendly cleaning but could be bigger fans. Right now we use a natural "all purpose" cleanser BUT we still are using other products such as AJAX and Clorox (not natural) for cleaning those tough areas.
Does anyone have a good recommendation on an Eco Friendly tough area's cleaner?
ALSO, who hears uses washable napkins instead of paper towels? I would love to try reusable "paper towels". Does anyone have suggestions on where to look for these?

What does you and your family do to stay Eco Chic and Green?

Changes

So I have been MIA when it comes to making actual posts besides Reviews and Giveaways and Blog hops! Sorry!

I started working as a consultant for a hotel. This is a temporary position as a Director of Sales. Basically I am helping the hotel upkeep on their group inquiries and prospecting for new business. It could last four, six, or even nine months just depending on when they find the right candidate to replace me once the hotel gets on a "groove".

I'm having fun playing "dress up" and of course I HAD to buy new clothes!

The hotel is beautiful and the team is great!

MilSpouse Friday Fill In

MilSpouse Friday Fill-In

Welcome, welcome! I'm linking up with Wife of a Sailor. What fun questions these are this week. And very deep too!
  1. During military separations (whether short or long) how do you keep yourself positive and motivated? submitted by Married/Single Parent: Before I had my son I would become a workaholic. My employers would be spoiled by me always wanting to work. But that is how I kept my mind busy. Now that I have a little one my mind is constantly focused on him. Yes, I missed my hubby  a lot when he was in Japan but having a baby to raise and sleepless nights there was no time to be always sad about it. My family kept me really busy as I moved home for his 15 month tour.
  2. What is your favorite concert you have ever been to? submitted byYoung but Not (Completely) Dumb: I would have to say Michael Buble! He has such a beautiful voice and I got to go with my sister. We had so much fun and I would love to go to one of his concerts again.
  3. What do you miss most about your “hometown”?  submitted by A Florida Girl and Her Soldier: I miss the charm. Everyone is so nice there. Everyone knows you and you are always welcome in their home no matter what. I miss being able to see people that I love everyday but we will see them soon :)
  4. If you could run in any race, which charity would you choose to support? submitted by Wookie & Co. It would be a race either supporting breast cancer. I have done a local one before and you feel so good for doing it. I would also like to sometime participate in the March of Dimes. There are so many babies and children who are fighting for their life. They are so young and innocent and shouldn't have to.
  5. You find out Willy Wonka is your father, what 3 course meal do you INSIST he create in that stick of gum?  submitted by A{muse}ing Mommy on a Pink Park Bench: This is a great question! He should start off with a salad that has dried cranberries, candied walnuts, and granny smith apples. Then for the main course a yummy filet steak with garlic mashed potatoes and asparagus. THEN for the 3rd course, dessert! How about peach cobbler a la mode! That all sounds SO delicious right now but I don't know how it'll taste in a stick of gum!

Here we are with the second review and giveaway for my son's 2nd Birthday Celebration!

This week's sponsor is Mom and Baby Naturally! First off a big thank you! What did I get from Mom and Baby Naturally?

BumGenius Babylegs!!!! Yes, Babylegs! I picked out Ducks in a Row for my boy. Now that he is older he just thinks he is so cool wearing Babylegs! He likes to show them off to Daddy when he get's home!

How about a little background on Mom and Baby Naturally! Mom and Baby Naturally is an online cloth diapering, babywearing, breastfeeding, and momma care online shop! Owner Beth strives to share her experiences as a mommy with her customers. Her customer service is great and she kept me in the loop when my item was packaged and then sent!

I wanted to do a shout out to her as she is local to me! Yup, she and her store are Pennsylvanians! Is that what they call themselves? I know I call myself an Oregonian! :)

You know what is FABULOUS? I didn't have a problem with the fit of the BumGenius Babylegs on my son's chunky thighs. Sometimes I cringe trying leggings on Bman because of his love chunks but there is enough give on the elastic that it fits comfortably without leaving any marks!
